North America is the guardian to over 15% of the world’s forests. Forests are our great fortune and responsibility—they provide shelter and food for humans and wildlife. Left untouched, forests provide beauty and recreation that improves our quality of life. When removed, trees provide products that improve our lives, such as wood and paper. Who speaks for the many voices of people? Who speaks for the many voices of the forest? We have only one planet, so forestry science must speak for all.
