A Summer 2009 Bonus Issue of O&S is certainly reason for being grateful that the arts thrive even in the heat of summertime. With this issue some changes occur that are like tryouts of broadway with Summer Stock. First, the issue is predominantly poetry - very good to superb poetry - but somehow the poetry takes a bit of a back seat to the new focus on photographs of the poets: the cover usually reserved for a painting by a featured painting in the magazine is instead replaced by a photograph of poet Taylor Mali in a fine, choreographic leap well captured by the photographer, but for those who are following the progress of previous O&S issues it is a bit distracting.
